As architect appointed to the entire site, John Armstrong had an advantage with his detailed knowledge of all the connected listed buildings and the confidence and support of local planners.
In partnership with local developer Sam Hodges they have sympathetically converted the redundant buildings into 3 high quality dwellings, on time and within budget. The project provides 3 new homes, ensures the long-term upkeep of an historic asset and has had a positive impact on its surroundings.
John commented: “Converting any building has risk, especially listed buildings, but collaborating with the local authority and the developers of the adjoining building minimised the risks and kept us on schedule. The unusual nature of this project did not appeal to more traditional funders, but through our broker Next Route Finance we were lucky to find Bricks who understood our vision and how we minimised the risks.”
Tracey Abbott from Bricks said: “The restoration of listed buildings in the centre of a town with a rich industrial heritage has been a joy for us and I’m sure, the residents of Trowbridge.”
